Late Surge Not Enough as Cougars Fall at St. Ambrose

DAVENPORT, IA. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s lacrosse team (6-3,1-2) hit the road for a Heart Conference matchup at (RV) St. Ambrose University (IA) (6-3, 2-0) on Wednesday, March 27.

In the opening quarter, MVNU responded strongly after trailing 0-2, mounting a three-goal surge to take a 3-2 lead. By the end of the first quarter, MVNU held a 4-3 advantage. However, St. Ambrose seized control in the second quarter with a three-goal streak, leading at halftime by a score of 6-4. The third quarter saw St. Ambrose take a commanding lead as it scored four consecutive goals to pull ahead 10-4. Despite the Cougars’ lone goal in the third, the score was 10-5 in favor of the hosts. In the final quarter, MVNU netted four goals, but ultimately fell short by a final score of 9-11
