Kenyon trio gain IMLCA All-Region accolades

DURHAM, N.C. — The Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) released this week its selections for NCAA Division III All-Region honors. Among the Region 5 picks were Kenyon College senior Thomas Nelson, junior Rollins Heath and sophomore David Chintala.

The three selections helped the 2024 Owls lacrosse team to a 13-6 overall record, a 6-2 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) record and the program’s fourth straight appearance in the NCAC Tournament’s championship game.

In the middle of the field, it all started with Nelson, a record-setting face-off specialist. He was 271-for-399 on face-offs in 2024 and his win percentage (.679) ranked first among all players in the NCAC and sixth among all players in NCAA Division III. Additionally, his average of 9.95 ground balls per game ranked first in the conference and 15th in the NCAA. Nelson, a four-time All-American, holds the Kenyon career and single-season records for face-offs and ground balls.

In the midfield, Heath is a leader for the Owls. He’s a two-time All-American who, this past season, ranked second on the team with 49 points. That total included 30 goals and 19 assists. Heath also gained control of 52 ground balls, a total second only to Nelson’s, and managed three caused turnovers.

Up top, Chintala led the way for the Kenyon attackmen. Following a stellar first year, Chintala put together a sophomore campaign that saw him lead the team with 72 points and 57 goals. That point total was six shy of the Kenyon single-season record and that goal total was just two shy of the Kenyon mark. With just two years in the books, Chintala’s career total of 111 goals already ranks seventh all-time at Kenyon and is just 29 goals away from tying the record of 140 career goals set by Evan Bliss ’00.
