Cougars Come Up Short at Thomas More

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s soccer team (5-2-1) fell on the road to Thomas More University (5-1-0) by a final score of 1-2 on Saturday, September 17.

Thomas More struck quickly with a goal from Julen van Egmond just 13 minutes into the match. The Saints scored again in the 67’ minute to take a 2-0 lead. Keon Boney continued his strong season, scoring in the 71’ minute to cut the Thomas More lead in half. It would be too little too late, however, as the Saints would hold on for the win.

Despite the loss, MVNU controlled much of the match, outshooting the Saints 17-8. Of MVNU’s 17 shots, eight of them were on goal. Thomas More only had three on goal in the match. Boney led the Cougars in shots with six. Four of which were on goal.
