Crossroads League Unveils Softball All-Conference Honorees

JACKSON, Mich. — The Crossroads League announced its Softball All-Conference recipients on Tuesday, May 7.

Four members of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team received recognition from the league.

First Team All-Conference

Kiera Mayer, a sophomore infielder, received first-team all-conference accolades for her outstanding performance this season. She amassed 52 hits and achieved an impressive batting average of .342, while also contributing significantly with 52 RBIs. Her standout achievement came in power hitting, where she set a new MVNU single-season record with 15 home runs, ranking her tied for fourth in the NAIA.

Mollie Pentz, a junior, was honored with first-team all-conference recognition. The stellar season for Pentz featured 55 hits and a strong .350 batting average. Pentz notched 7 doubles and 1 triple, demonstrating her knack for generating extra-base hits. Pentz had 14 RBI and scored 37 runs for MVNU.

Second Team All-Conference

Sheridan Sullivan, a senior pitcher, earned second-team all-conference honors for her outstanding performance in the circle this season. Sullivan boasted an impressive 7.14 strikeouts per game and maintained a solid 2.81 earned run average. Throughout the year, the senior tallied 104 strikeouts in 102 innings pitched.

Honorable Mention

Mallory Holcomb, a senior outfielder, earned honorable mention honors after maintaining a batting average of .297 throughout the 2024 season. Holcomb had 7 RBIs, scored 33 runs, and showcased her speed with 9 stolen bases.

Gold Glove

Pentz secured the esteemed Gold Glove accolade at first base, wrapping up the 2024 season with an impressive fielding percentage of .991, 227 putouts, and 4 double plays.
