Knox County Sheriff’s Office warns of Phone Scam

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls in the past week from local residents who have received scam calls. The caller states that the victim has missed jury duty and they must pay to avoid an arrest. The payment needs to be in gift cards or bitcoin. The victim’s caller ID may show a number from the sheriff’s office. The suspects are using names of local officers and judges to sound believable. This is never a legitimate call. Do NOT respond and hang up immediately!
