Great food, live music and family fun for all at the 2021 downtown First Friday season. Main Street Mount Vernon is thrilled to bring fun, free, family entertainment for the residents of Mount Vernon and beyond.
First Friday season comes to an end with our Back to School Celebration!
The Main Stage located on Gambier Street along the South Main Plaza will feature duo Black Gravy with a special “Frozen” performance by MTVarts at 7:15pm. The secondary stage featuring Side Effects sponsored by Flappers Bar and Grille located at the West High and Public Square Intersection!
The Knox Foodies Food Truck Trail provided by Knoxpages.com, Activity Zone presented by Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities featuring BAM!, family friendly activities, and Touch-A-Truck sponsored by Edward Jones Investments – Sara Mankins!!
Sponsored by A+ Auto Brokers, the Cruise-In returns to Public Square. Main Street is asking for a $10 donation from participating cars to continue to keep First Fridays as a FREE community event. Each donation will receive a free dash plaque commemorating the Cruise-In, and proceeds will benefit the initiatives of Main Street Mount Vernon to continue to better our downtown.
With more vendors than ever, there will be something for everyone, and for the first time ever, vendors at First Fridays will be able to sell their products!

Stockhands Veterans Night @ Stockhands Horses For Healing

Birdwatching for Beginners @ Grange Insurance Audubon Center

If you’ve wondered what birdwatching is about, but can’t even see a bird in a pair of binoculars, this is for you. Bring your binoculars or use ours. We’ll teach you tricks to start or improve upon a fun hobby. Weather permitting, we’ll go on a short hike or ‘arm chair’ bird watch.

College hosts regular electronic recycling days
at the Gambier Community Center. The program diverts electronic waste
from regional landfills and ensures recyclable aspects
of electronic devices
get a second chance at service. The program is open to the public.
When: First Saturday of the month
from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Community Center, 115 Meadow Lane (between the center and the dog park at the
big gray shipping container)

What: All
household electronics are
accepted free except TVs ($20) and computer monitors ($10)

This is on Meadow lane behind the Gambier Public Library.

Not accepted: dehumidifiers, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, equipment containing freon, CFL bulbs, light bulbs, chemicals, hazmat waste, leaking/damaged batteries, alkaline batteries, aerosol/pressure air containers, Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCBs), and items containing PCBs
