Gould garners NCAC Athlete of the Week award

CLEVELAND, Ohio — After propelling the Kenyon women’s soccer program to a regular-season title with a 2-0 week, Sadie Gould was named as the North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week.

Gould racked up three of Kenyon’s four goals over the undefeated week that included two 2-0 shutouts. The strong performance in wins at home over Denison University and Wittenberg University helped the Owls clinch their first NCAC regular-season title since 2017, the fourth title in program history.

Against Denison, Gould scored in the 27th minute to double Kenyon’s lead and help the Owls replace the Big Red atop the conference standings. The junior scored both Owls goals in Kenyon’s season finale against the Tigers, connecting just 2:07 into the game before heading in an insurance goal in the 65th minute, tying the season high for goals in a game by an NCAC player.

The West Simsbury, Connecticut, native finished the season with a team-high six goals, tied for third-most in the NCAC. Her three game-winners tied for the best mark in the conference, and her .714 goals per game in conference contests led the NCAC.

After finishing the regular season with four consecutive shutout wins, the top-seeded Owls are set to host No. 4-seeded Denison in the semifinal round of the NCAC Tournament. The postseason bout is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff on Wednesday on Mavec Field.
