MVFD Fire Prevention Officer reminds of Safe Grilling Tips

Terry Davis is the Fire Prevention Officer for the Mount Vernon Fire Department he gives some safety tips for grilling.

• Inspect your grill before you use it every time
• Keep your grill on a flat level surface
• Nothing over top of the garage
• Open the lid before starting, turn on the gas before lighting it
• Test the connections with soapy water solution
• Stay 3-5 feet from structures
• Clean your grill after each use
• If it won’t light turn off the gas and the grill for 5 minutes before trying again
• Do not leave a lit grill unattended
