Bond set at $500,000 for Mount Vernon Murder Suspect

A man charged with aggravated murder in Mount Vernon was in Knox County Common Pleas Court Wednesday. 44 year old Chad Taylor had his bond set at 500,000 dollars at his arraignment. Taylor is charged with the murder of a woman October the 26th last month. Mount Vernon Police told us they have not released the name in accordance with Marsy’s law. Below is a background of the incident.

On October 26, 2023 at approximately 3:25 AM officers of the Mount Vernon Police
Department responded to a reported stabbing at a residence in the 700 block of North
Mulberry Street.


Upon their arrival the officers made entry into the residence and located a single
female victim. The victim was deceased at this time and there were no other persons in the
residence. At this time Detectives from the Mount Vernon Police Department were called to
the scene along with investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).
Officers also responded to a residence in the 700 block of West High Street where the
initial 911 call originated from. When officers arrived at this location they detained Chad R.
Taylor (age 44) as a suspect in the incident.


At approximately 6:43 AM the suspect Chad R. Taylor was transported to the Knox
County Jail and charged with a single count of Aggravated Murder. The suspect is being held
without bond at this time.


As the investigation continues further details of the incident will be released as
appropriate. In accordance with the provisions of Ohio’s Marsy’s Law, the victim’s
identification will not be released at this time.
