6 Found Guilty and 3 Sentenced in Mount Vernon Municipal Court

MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found four guilty and sentenced one after
arraignments and hearings were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on June 7,
2022.


James Potter, 41 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced
him to pay a $35 fine.


Austin Sykes, 23 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under a Judgement
Suspension and Speeding. The Court sentenced him to pay a $250 fine on the DUS
charge and a $35 fine on the speeding charge.


Jackie Laughton, 50 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving While Under the
Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs of Abuse and Failure to Control. The Court
sentenced her to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail with 167 suspended, with the
following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, placed
her two years of community control and suspended her operator’s license for one year.


Lauralee Biddle, 34 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under a 12 Point
Suspension. The Court sentenced her to serve three days in jail.


Director of Law, Rob Broeren, represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of
Ohio in the above cases.

Judge John Thatcher found two guilty after court trials were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on June 8th, 2022.

31 year old Tara Huff of Thornville, was found guilty of driving under an FRA suspension. She was ordered to a pay a $250 fine.

53 year old Kristi White of Mount Vernon was found guilty of failing to stop at a stop sign. The court sentenced her to pay a $35 fine.
