23 Found Guilty and One Sentenced in Mount Vernon Municipal Court

MOUNT VERNON –Judge Thatcher found nine guilty after hearings were held in the
Mount Vernon Municipal Court on October 10, 2022.
Michael Gill, 55 of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct with
Persisting Behavior. The Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine, serve 30 days in jail,
with all time suspended, and placed him on one year of probation with the following
condition: complete Anger Management.
Sandeep Gupta, 60 of Hilliard, was found guilty of Selling Alcohol to an Underage
Person. The Court sentenced him to pay a $700 fine and to serve three days in jail.
Lydia Napier, 24 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Violating a Protection Order.
The Court sentenced her to pay a $100 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 170 days
suspended, and placed her on two years of probation with the following condition:
complete a drug and alcohol assessment.
Jacob Stevens, 30 of Coshocton, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under
the Influence and Distracted Driving. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine,
serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed him on two years of community
control with the following conditions: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention
program and complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended his operator’s
license for one year for the OVI charge, and to pay a $100 fine for the Distracted Driving
charge.
James Strouse, 42 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While
Under the Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $700 fine, serve 180 days in jail,
with 155 days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the
following condition: complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended his
operator’s license for two years.

Kevin Penn, 43 of Canton, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle While Under the
Influence. The Court sentenced him to pay a $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 177
days suspended, placed him on two years of community control with the following
condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended
his operator’s license for one year.
Virginia Loney, 41 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Having Physical Control Over a
Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence. The Court sentenced her to pay a $500 fine,
serve 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, placed her on two years of community
control with the following condition: attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention
program, and suspended her operator’s license for 60 days.
Tyler Buckland, 21 of Danville, was found guilty of Failing to Yield to a Safety Vehicle.
The Court sentenced him to pay a $250 fine.
Brandy Orndorff, 40 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence. She will
be sentenced on November 15, 2022 following a pre-sentence investigation.

the State of Ohio in these cases.

MOUNT VERNON –Judge Thatcher found twelve guilty and sentenced one person after
arraignments and hearings were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on October
11, 2022.
Christina Courts, 30 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under Suspension
and Failing to Use Reasonable Control. The Court sentenced her to pay a $300 fine for
the DUS charge and a $25 fine for the Failure to Control charge.
Eric Chapman, 35 of Lancaster, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA Suspension.
The Court sentenced him to pay a $300 fine.
Melinda Blanton, 48 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Vehicle with
Expired Plates. The Court sentenced her to pay a $15 fine.
Todd Shepherd, 41 of Perrysville, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The
Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine.
Ralph Brown, 80 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The
Court sentenced him to pay a $100 fine.
Misty Griffith, 45 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The
Court sentenced her to pay a $100 fine.
Andrew Jacob, 35 of Centerburg, was found guilty of Not Wearing a Seatbelt. The Court
sentenced him to pay a $30 fine.
David Boyd, 35 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Driving Under an FRA
Suspension. The Court sentenced him to serve five days in jail.

Joshua Bias, 45 of Centerburg was found guilty of Driving Under a 12-Point Suspension
and Operating a Vehicle with Fictitious Plates. The Court sentenced him to serve three
days in jail.
Nicholas Treneff, 37 of Columbus, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court
sentenced him to pay a $100 fine.
Donald Korns, 61 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Criminal Mischief. The Court
sentenced him to serve 60 days in jail, with all time suspended, and placed him on one
year of probation.
Dustin Shook, 35 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Theft. He will be sentenced on
November 22, 2022 following a pre-sentence investigation.
Katara Bennett, 35 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Domestic Violence on May 17, 2022

Today she was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, and
was placed on two years of probation with the following conditions: complete a drug and
alcohol assessment and complete the Court’s Hands Down program.

Kevin Curtis, 37 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Criminal Trespassing. The Court
sentenced him to serve 20 days in jail.
Grace Brubaker, 23 of Newark, was found guilty of Speeding. The Court sentenced her
to pay a $25 fine.
Director of Law, Rob Broeren, represented the State of Ohio in the Curtis case and the
Village of Danville in the Brubaker case.
