The Park District invites you to celebrate 2019’s International Observe the Moon Night! International Observe the Moon Night is an annual worldwide public event that encourages observation, appreciation and understanding of our Moon and its connection to NASA planetary science and exploration. The annual event connects scientists, educators and lunar enthusiasts from around the world.

The early evening event will include: a moon presentation, crafts and activities. Then after the sun sets OCVN and Richland Astronomical Society member Chad Ruhl will be on hand with telescopes and binoculars, providing guided tours of the Moon, and maybe even a few glimpses of some of our planets or other celestial objects.

Knox County Park District is proud to take part in this year’s International Observe the Moon Night which is sponsored by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) mission and partners. LRO is managed by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
