MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The No. 12 Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s volleyball team (24-7) hosted Bethel University (16-16) in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday, November 8 at Ariel Arena.
MVNU entered the match as the second seed in the conference and Bethel as the seventh. Bethel jumped out to a quick 5-2 lead in set one and controlled much of the first set, but MVNU battled back. The Pilots led 22-20 before MVNU scored four unanswered points. The Lady Cougars took set one 25-23. MVNU used the momentum it created with its strong finish in set one to take the second set of the match 25-22. MVNU controlled set three, leading from start to finish. In the end, the Lady Cougars broke out their brooms and completed the sweep of Bethel by a score of 25-20.
Libby Evanshine led MVNU with 11 kills, four digs and two blocks. Morgan Schlabach also added 11 kills to go with her five digs. Faith Maloney had 10 kills and two digs, while Evelyn Brown added nine kills. Reagan Nuss finished with 36 assists, 13 digs and five kills. Jaelyn Tang had 13 digs as well.

MVNU returns to Ariel Arena on Wednesday, November 12 as it is set to host the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals against Marian University at 7:00 p.m.
