Trojans and Jackets open the High School Basketball Season Friday night in Centerburg

The Centerburg Trojans and Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets will open the High School Boys Basketball Season tonight facing off in Centerburg. The Trojans won in the first year and last year Hudson Rohler made his return to the court securing a convincing win for the Jackets. Rohler and his nearly 20 points per game are now gone as well as Caden Rowland’s double digit per game output from last year. The Jackets will lean on Seniors like Jack Marhefka and Andrew Burke to the lead the charge for a Jackets team that lacks size.

Mount Vernon opened last season 4-0 but finished 8-15 including a near stunning upset in tournament action against Pickerington North. The Jackets will play in a very competitive Ohio Cardinal Conference before switching to the Licking County League the following season.

Meanwhile Centerburg finished 15-9 and second in the KMAC at 9-3 behind Fredericktown in the standings last year. Gone are the 18 points per game and 7 rebounds a game from Colton Martin who is now playing at the College of Wooster. Back is Grayson Reynolds, a first team all KMAC team selection. He averaged over 12 points per game and over 4 assists per game last year. The Trojans, much like Mount Vernon is lacking in size. The Trojans hope to compete for a title in the KMAC this season.
