6-0, 3-0 KMAC Mount Gilead at Centerburg 5-1, 3-0 KMAC

The top 2 scoring offenses and the top 2 defenses  in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference will square off Friday Night at Centerburg. The Trojans come in averaging just under 39 points per game while Mount Gilead allows over 27 points per game. Defensively Mount Gilead is allowing less than 10 points per game while the Trojans allow 15. The Indians run defense, which is tops in the KMAC allowing just 2.6 yards per carry. The Indians beat East Knox 39-7 last week behind Carson Barnum’s 181 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. Barnum is the top rusher in the KMAC with 1,083 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. Centerburg beat Cardington last week 47-7 behind Miles Marshall’s 195 rush yards and 4 touchdowns. Blane Ball added 110 yards on the ground and a score with his legs and through the air.  Marshall is third in the conference in rushing yards with 825 but he averages nearly 10 yards a carry and leads the KMAC with 14 rushing scores. Blane Ball meanwhile is fourth in the KMAC in rushing. Mount Gilead has a dominate up front group on defense as the top 5 players in tackles for loss play for the Indians.

3-3, 1-2 KMAC Cardington Lincoln at 3-3, 1-2 KMAC Danville

Danville is coming off a 34-28 win over Loudonville on the road last week. The Blue Devils defense allowed just 113 total yards last week in the week. Parker Proper threw for a touchdown and Nolan Ridgeway ran for 31 yards and a score. Cy Wallace rushed 14 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns in the win while Jacob Byers had 18 tackles on defense. The Pirates meanwhile struggled in their loss against Centerburg. They’ll get their head coach Ryan Goetzman back this week but are looking to string wins together as they have alternated wins and losses the whole season. The Pirates are led by the KMAC’s second leading rusher Wyatt Denney. He’s rushed for 1,040 yards and 9 touchdowns this year. Quarterback Josh Goers has run for 584 yards and 6 touchdowns.

1-5, 1-2 KMAC East Knox at 3-3, 1-2 Northmor

East Knox is coming off a 39-7 loss to Mount Gilead last week but the Bulldogs entered the match up with the Golden Knights with the top throwing quarterback in the league. Jax Lester has thrown for 1,213 yards and 15 touchdowns. He has 6 more touchdown passes than the runner up in that category in the KMAC. The Bulldogs have plenty of threats on the outside in Rush Beatty, Logan Clark and Dakota Cooper who combine for 60 catches, 911 yards and 13 touchdowns. However the Bulldogs are the lowest scoring team in the KMAC at just over 20 points per game. Defensively they are next to last allowing nearly 29 points per contest.

Northmor meanwhile is coming off a 25-13 loss to Fredericktown. Quarterback Tanner Miley threw a 49 yard touchdown pass and threw a ten yard touchdown pass to Connor Stockdale. Miley led the Golden Knights with 189 yards on 16-of-23 passing. Brad Bowlin caught five passes for 44 of that total, while Stockdale (30 yards) and Bryson Baker (28) both caught three passes. Miley is second in the KMAC with 981 yards passing and 9 touchdowns. Stockdale is the top receiver in the KMAC with 30 catches 415 yards and 5 touchdowns on the year.

5-1, 2-1 KMAC Fredericktown host Loudonville 2-4, 0-3 KMAC

Fredericktown bounced back from a loss to Mount Gilead to beat Northmor 25-13. The Freddies rushed for 335 yards in the win. Quarterback Blake Sipes ran for 107 yards. Sipes also threw for a touchdown. The Freddies defense held Northmor to 19 yards rushing. The Freddies have the third best defense in the KMAC. Sipes has thrown for 458 yards and 6 touchdowns and run for 647 yards and 4 scores. Gavin Toombs is fifth in the KMAC in receiving with 276 yards. Toombs also leads the KMAC with 7.5 sacks. The Freddies have struggled with injures this season and may be without Brode Davis again. Davis has 337 yards receiving and is second in the KMAC in interceptions on defense.

The Redbirds offense put up just 113 yards last week and will try to get going. They are lead on the ground by Collin Caley who averages 7.3 yards per carry. The Redbirds are third in the conference in scoring at 27 points per game. They come in losers of 4 in a row.

Mount Vernon 4-2, 1-0 Licking County League Buckeye Division vs Watkins Memorial 2-4, 1-0 LCL

The Jackets are on a roll as they enter Friday’s game on a 3 game win streak. The Jackets are coming off a 42-0 win over Zanesville last week. Jake Hubbard ran for 88 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win. Mason Richards threw for three scores on 8/11 passing with 200 yards through the air. Richards is running for 8.3 yards per carry and has 888 yards on the ground this season. He has also thrown for 533 yards. Drew Samsal threw for 186 yards and a touchdown and ran for 131 yards and two scores in Watkins win 35-28 over Granville last week.
