Team Curtis wins Girl’s Senior Showcase game at Fredericktown

At Fredericktown High School Friday Night Knox County Senior boys and girls basketball players stepped on the court one last time in the High School Careers. Team Curtis was coached by Mandy Todd in the Girl’s game and Team Tyler was coached by KMAC Coach of the Year Jared Pryor.

Team Tyler jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a Kaitlyn Thompson lay in before Sydney Opfer evened it up. Cally Carpenter, the KMAC Player of the Year scored back to back buckets before Kymber Bell added back to back buckets of her own for Team Curtis to lead 10-2 at the end of one.

Molly Totten extended the lead to 12-2 with 545 to go in the half with a score but Maddie Tocheff of Mount Vernon scored for Team Tyler and Kayla Larimore of Centerburg scored to make it 12-6 with 308 to go in the half. Opfer scored before Larimore hit back to back shots to cut the lead to 4. Bell ended the half with a score to give Team Curtis a 16-10 halftime advantage.

Cally Carpenter got back to back scores to open scoring in the third to give Team Curtis a ten point lead. Larimore scored before Bell and Hayley Burke went back to back and Bell scored again to push the lead to 26-12 with 42 seconds left in the third. Larimore got another shot to go before Totten hit a three giving Team Curtis a 15 point advantage going to the fourth quarter. Larimore hit a three and Thompson scored before Larimore hit a free throw to make it 29-20 going to the Elam Ending.

The Target score was set to 35. Bell and Carpenter both quickly score. Bell on a bucket and was fouled and on her missed free throw Carpenter layed it in. Burke hit the game winner to give Team Curtis the 35-22 win.

Kymber Bell was named the game’s MVP as she had 12 points, Carpenter added 10 in the win

Larimore had 12 points for Team Tyler in the loss
