Sosinsky hired as Owls assistant coach

GAMBIER, Ohio — Adding a familiar face to his staff, Steve Phillips, the newly-hired head coach of the Kenyon College men’s basketball program, announced that he appointed Justin Sosinsky as assistant coach of the Owls.

Phillips and Sosinsky previously worked together, for three seasons, as assistant coaches at Williams College, an NCAA Division III institution in Williamstown, Massachusetts. During their time there, Williams teams posted a combined record of 55-22 and qualified for two NCAA Division III Tournaments.

Sosinsky not only served as an assistant coach at Williams, but also the head coach of the junior varsity team. He was responsible for facilitating individual workouts, planning practice schedules, developing scouting reports and analyzing film, as well as other duties. On his watch, three players earned all-conference accolades and 11 claimed academic all-conference honors.

Prior to his work at Williams, Sosinsky was a two-year graduate assistant at Messiah University, a Division III institution in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. His coaching responsibilities were similar to those at Williams and he was part of a staff that developed three all-conference selections, three academic all-conference honorees and one 1,000-point scorer.

Sosinsky, a native of Princeton, Wisconsin, possesses three years of additional coaching experience at Ripon College, where he served as an assistant. While at the Division III institution in Ripon, Wisconsin, he mentored a three-time All-American, five all-conference players, and three 1,000-point scorers. He was on staff for the 2017 season that included a conference championship and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Sosinsky graduated from Ripon in 2016 with a degree in educational studies and religion. In 2019, his last year at Messiah, he earned his master’s degree in higher education, with a concentration in athletics.
