Softball Has Three Named to NFCA All-Region Team

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its All-Region teams for the 2023 season.

The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team saw three members named to the Region V First and Second Teams.

First Team

Macee Marcum received the honor after finishing the season tied for first in the conference for runs batted in with 52 for the season. The shortstop also was second in the Crossroads League in batting average at .445. The senior had six homeruns and an on-base percentage of .486. Marcum finished fourth in the conference in slugging percentage at .665, third in hits with 73, and third for runs with 45.

Kylee Pettit received first team honors as well as an outfielder. Pettit finished fourth in the Crossroads League in batting average at .412, finished second in the conference in hits with 77 and tied for first in runs with 61. The senior stole 18 bases for the Lady Cougars in 2023.

Second Team

Kaycee Ollis earned the honor at catcher. Ollis batted in 38 runs and had 16 doubles. The senior was also able to come away with 28 runs scored along with 48 hits for the year. On the season, Ollis batted .329 with three homeruns.
