MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. — CoSIDA announced its Academic All-District Softball Teams and the Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team had five members make the list of student athletes.
The 2023 Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
MVNU’s academic honorees included junior infielder Mackenzie Hancock, senior outfielder Kylee Pettit, junior outfielder Mallory Shoup, sophomore pitcher Nadia Hoffman and junior pitcher Sheridan Sullivan.
To receive the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have achieved sophomore status academically with at least one full year at their current institution, and must have participated in over half of the team’s competitions as a key contributor during the current season.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 7.
