GAMBIER, Ohio — Coming off the most successful season in program history, the Kenyon College men’s golf team is opening its 2024-25 calendar with an international excursion to Scotland. The Owls will head to the Scottish Highlands from August 10-16 and will play five different courses during their time while also taking in the local scenery and culture.
Kenyon’s trip is being organized by The Fliers Club, which is an organization that prides itself on promoting the global nature of the game of golf. The Club offers four different golf experiences, including Scotland and Ireland, and combination locations in Spain and Portugal and Australia and New Zealand. Golfers are encouraged to take in diverse courses, cultures, and time-honored golf traditions during their excursions.
“This trip will be a great way for our team to continue building bonds and relationships that will span their time at Kenyon and beyond,” Grant Wallace, Kenyon’s head coach, said. “Traveling abroad to the birthplace of golf and playing a sport they love with their teammates is an incredible experience they will remember for the rest of their lives.”
The five courses that the Owls will be teeing off at include Murcar Links, Royal Aberdeen, Cruden Bay, Nairn Golf Club, and Brora Golf Club. Kenyon’s trip will also include stops in Aberdeen and Inverness, and the team will take in the local culture through a castle tour and a falconry show.
After getting an early start to the season after last season’s extended NCAA Tournament run, the Owls will officially kick off their 2024-25 campaign at the Transylvania Fall Invitational and Denison’s Ted Barclay Invitational, both starting on Saturday, August 31.
