Owls’ season extended with NCAA at-large berth

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Selection Committee announced Sunday night that the Kenyon College Owls earned one of just 10 at-large bids that were up for grabs for entry into the upcoming 38-team field of the 2023 NCAA Division III Tournament.

Kenyon, which has four NCAA appearances in program history, owns a 15-2 record this season and claimed a share of the North Coast Athletic Conference regular-season title.

As the Owls move into the national bracket, they are included in a pod of five teams that will play their games at host Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The Owls have a bye through the first round and will face Stevens Institute of Technology in the second round. That game will be played Saturday, May 13 at 3 p.m. on Dickinson’s Biddle Field Complex.

Stevens is 17-2 and gained entry into the NCAA Tournament field via automatic berth by winning the Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament with a 26-15 victory over DeSales University. Ironically, Kenyon head coach Doug Misarti spent eight seasons at Stevens before being hired at Kenyon prior to the 2008 season.

This will be Misarti’s third Kenyon team to make the NCAA Tournament.
