Owls haul in CSCAA academic awards

GAMBIER, Ohio — The Kenyon College Owls men’s swimming and diving team earned both team and individual academic awards from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Not only were the Owls declared a Scholar All-America Team, but nine members were named Scholar All-Americans.

Those Kenyon honorees who earned spots on the Scholar All-America first team were Neil Abrahamson, Peter Dunson, Ethan Manske, Roman Savage, Kirill Sidorko, Spencer Stluka, and Noel Tumbasz. Second-team honors went to James Lackner and Owen Peterson.

First-team Scholar All-America awards went to swimmers and divers who achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.50 and who qualified for the NCAA Championship. Second team awards went to student-athletes who achieved the same 3.50 grade point average, or better, and who reached an NCAA ‘B’ time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier.

This year’s award was Manske’s third, while Savage and Tumbasz are now two-time winners of the academic honor.

Overall, the 34 student-athletes on the 2024-25 Kenyon men’s roster combined for a spring semester 3.36 team grade point average, which far surpassed the minimum 3.00 grade point average for Scholar All-America Team eligibility. In the fall, the team made the grade with a 3.35 grade point average.

The presentation of the team award marks the 19th consecutive year the Owls were recognized.
