Owls claim No. 20 spot in final national poll

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — In the final Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) NCAA Division III national poll, released today, the Kenyon College Owls settled in at No. 20.

Kenyon finished the 2023 season as one of the best in program history. The Owls cranked out an 18-2 record, which included program records for wins in a season and win streak (17 games). The team won the North Coast Athletic Conference regular-season championship and earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament, where it made it to the third round before bowing out.

The Owls started receiving votes in the IWLCA’s poll that was released on March 13 and things remained that way for the next two weeks. On March 27, however, after Kenyon recorded a win at No. 14-ranked University of Chicago, the Owls gained a spot at No. 23 in the national poll. That marked the first-ever national rank for the program.

Kenyon moved up to No. 22 the following week and then jumped up one more spot in the IWLCA’s poll that was released on April 17. The Owls remained at No. 21 until today’s announcement of the IWLCA’s final poll.

Throughout the season, the poll was voted on jointly by coaches across the country and members of the media.
