NORMAN, Okla. – After First Team All-Americans were declared at the conclusion of the NCAA Division III Men’s Championship last month, the Second, Third, and Honorable Mention PING All-America Teams were announced today by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Included on the list of honorees was Kenyon College sophomore Jonathan Oakes, who was selected as an Honorable Mention for the second straight season. With the honor, Oakes became the second multi-time All-American in Kenyon program history. He also is the program’s third All-American over the past eight seasons.
Throughout the 2024-25 season, Oakes played 30 rounds and led the Owls with a scoring average of 72.33. He had a trio of top-10 finishes, including taking the individual first-place spot at John Carroll University’s Caschera/DiCillo Classic.
During postseason play, Oakes helped the Owls take the team runner-up spot at the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship, where he finished in a tie for fifth place within a field of 40 golfers. After the Owls gained an at-large berth in the NCAA Division III Championship, Oakes steered the team to a tie for 13th place by tying for an individual 14th-place spot within the national field of 225 golfers.
According to the Scoreboard powered by clippd ranking, Oakes finished the 2024-25 campaign as the No. 4-ranked individual golfer in Region V and the No. 31-ranked golfer in all of NCAA Division III.
Prior to gaining this most recent All-America award, Oakes was named to the 2024-25 All-NCAC First Team and was voted the conference’s winner of the Dick Gordin Award, presented annually to the NCAC’s Player of the Year. Additionally, Oakes, for the second straight season, was named to the NCAA Division III PING All-Region Team.
