Week 7 High School Football Previews
4-2 East Knox Host 6-0 Northmor (LIVESTREAM WMVO FACEBOOK, ON RADIO 100.9FM AND 93.7HD 2)
In the premier match up in the KMAC Friday Night the Bulldogs of East Knox welcome in the Northmor Golden Knights. Both teams are 3-0 in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference coming into the game Friday. The Bulldogs are winners of 3 in a row after opening 1-2 to start the season. East Knox is coming off a 20-0 win over Mount Gilead in which Jaxon Lester threw for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns and Blake Elliott tossed a touchdown.
Northmor shut out Fredericktown 19-0 as Cowin Becker rushed for 56 yards and a score and Carson Campbell ran for 138 yards in the win along with a rushing touchdown. East Knox last defeated Northmor in 2020.
3-3 Fredericktown at 0-6 Loudonville
Fredericktown is 2-1 in KMAC play and coming off a 19-0 loss to Northmor. The Freddies are led by one of the top rushers in the conference in Quarterback Blake Sipes at 794 yards with an average of 7.4 yards per carry. He averaged over 9 yards a carry last week with just 6 carries.
Dillan Wade leads the KMAC in interceptions with 9 but he has thrown for 637 yards. The Redbirds have one of the top outside threats in the conference as Josiah Hershberger leads the KMAC in receptions and receiving yards at 491 to go along with 2 touchdowns.
4-2 Danville at 2-4 Cardington Lincoln
The Blue Devils are coming off a 22-0 win over Loudonville and sits at 2-1 in the KMAC. Aidan Burke has run for nearly 600 yards and averages over 5 yards per carry for the Blue Devils with 5 touchdowns. The game could be a ground game as Cardington Lincoln’s Wyatt Denney is second in the conference in rushing yards at 879 and averages 8.8 yards per carry, good for a tie for second in the KMAC. Denney also has 9 rushing touchdowns. Denney is third in the KMAC in tackles on defense as well while Danville’s Josh Byers leads the conference in that department. Denney is number one in the KMAC in tackles for loss at 13.5.
4-2 Centerburg at 2-4 Mount Gilead
The Trojans got a monster game from the Marshall’s last week in a 33-6 win over Cardington Lincoln. Miles Marshall, who ran for three touchdowns in the win last week is 4th in the KMAC in rushing with 608 yards and 9 touchdowns. He has the highest rushing average in the league at 8.9. Blane Ball, the Centerburg quarterback has thrown for 11 touchdowns this season. Cam Vickers is a huge threat for the Indians averages nearly 6 yards per carry on the ground with 606 yards this season and three touchdowns. The Indians have 4 players with at least 150 rush yards this year. Vickers is second in the conference in sacks.
2-4 Mount Vernon host 0-6 Watkins Memorial (LIVESTREAM WMVO FACEBOOK PAGE)
The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets beat Zanesville 37-0 last week. Mavrik Gregory ran for 121 yards and two touchdowns in the win. He averaged over 7 yards a carry. Jake Taylor threw for a pair of touchdowns. Jackets are looking for their first 3 game win streak since 2020.
The Warriors lost to unbeaten Granville 31-14 last week. The Warriors were tied with the Blue Aces late in the third quarter before being outscored 17-0 in the fourth quarter of their loss.
