MARION, Ind. – The No. 12 Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s volleyball team (25-8, 14-4 CL) traveled to face No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan University (27-4, 17-1 CL) in the Crossroads League Tournament title match on Saturday, November 15.
In the first set, Morgan Schlabach tied the game 6-6 with a kill assisted by Reagan Nuss. Evelyn Brown would later put MVNU at set point with a kill again assisted by Nuss, but IWU answered quickly and would go on to win the first set 25-23. The second set would be another battle between MVNU and IWU, but IWU would take the set 25-22. MVNU tried to pick it up early in the third set, going up by a score of 5-3 with another kill by Brown, assisted by Kate Ruffle. IWU pushed back and would reach set point with a kill. IWU would take the third set 25-22, securing a sweep over MVNU.
Schlabach led MVNU’s offense with ten kills and two service aces. Libby Evanshine added eight kills, and Brown had seven kills. Jaelyn Tang made 12 digs and five assists. Nuss came away with 24 assists and 14 digs.
