MOUNT VERNON, Ohio– The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s basketball team (7-9, 1-5) fell to the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) (10-5, 3-3) on Wednesday, January 10 at Ariel Arena.
MVNU started slowly in the first quarter, trailing 12-3 at one point. It battled back in the second quarter, taking the lead by a score of 17-16 after a Shalen Guilliams three. At the end of the first half, MVNU found itself down 22-17 after a 5-1 USF run. The second half was a back-and-forth battle. The score at the end of the third saw MVNU leading 42-36. USF fought back however, responding with a 21-11 fourth quarter. USF took advantage of some late MVNU turnovers down the stretch, which led to a 57-53 loss for the hosts.
