WEEK THREE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PREVIEWS
1-1 Mount Vernon at 1-1 Delaware Hayes
The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets are coming off a road win at Newark this past Friday and looking to get back to back wins as they face off with another rival in the Pacers. The Jackets Mason Richards rushed for 80 yards and 3 touchdowns in a win over the Wildcats 24-7 last week. The Jackets controlled the clock running 59 plays to the Wildcats 33. The Jackets lost last year’s meeting with the Pacers 35-0 and last won over the Pacers in 2020. The Pacers are coming off a win over Marion Franklin 18-15 last week but have been without Ohio State Commit Favor Akih at running back since the season’s first play after Akih suffered a high ankle sprain.

- Centerburg at 0-2 Worthington Christian
Centerburg is coming off a tough loss at home to Johnstown where Ryan Sager rushed for 278 yards and 7 touchdowns in a 48-14 win. The Johnnies rushed 378 yards in the win. The Trojans meanwhile were also stout on the ground as Miles Marshall rushed for 180 yards and a pair of scores in the loss. Blane Ball was held to 71 yards passing after he threw for nearly 300 in week one. Worthington Christian has lost to Danville and Bexley. Centerburg won last year’s meeting 44-21.
- Danville host 1-1 Lucas
Danville is coming off a home loss to Utica 27-8. Utica outscored Danville 20-0 in the second quarter. The Blue Devils were held to 51 yards rushing on 23 carries. Aaron Hays accounted for 4 touchdowns in the win for the Redskins over Danville. Lucas lost 31-0 to Hillsdale last week. The two teams last met in 2021 with Lucas winning 34-20.
2-0 Fredericktown at 1-1 Utica
Fredericktown beat Northridge 34-14 last week. The Freddies Blake Sipes ran for 247 yards including a 79 yard touchdown run to win on Friday. Sipes also threw a touchdown pass to Brode Davis who has had a nice start to the season. Sipes had 3 rushing scores. Brayden Bingham ran for just 34 yards after rushing for over 200 the week before. Utica won last year’s meeting 18-15.

0-2 East Knox at 2-0 Colonel Crawford
East Knox suffered a tough one point loss in week one to Northridge and fell to Wynford 28-12. The Bulldogs have allowed over 600 rushing yards this season through two games. Their quarterback Jax Lester leads the KMAC in passing yards with 444. Three of the top five receivers in the KMAC are Bulldogs. Logan Clark, Cade Faucett and Rush Beatty combine for 25 catches and 4 touchdowns this season.
