Miller Surpasses 300 Career Saves as Lady Cougars Defeat Cleary

HOWELL, Mich. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s soccer team (2-0) defeated Cleary University (0-2) at Lake Trust Stadium by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday, August 27.

After a scoreless first half of play, MVNU got on the board with Alexis Hoffman’s third goal of the season, putting it up 1-0 in the 48th minute. Sophomore, Ally Martini extended MVNU’s lead in the 72nd minute with the first goal of her career.

Hannah Miller helped secure the shutout in goal, finishing the match with three saves. The senior from Ashland, Ohio surpassed 300 career saves in the win for MVNU. MVNU outshot Cleary 17-6 and held the advantage in shots on goal 10-3.

What’s Next:

MVNU resumes non-conference play with a contest against West Virginia Tech at CH4 Stadium on Saturday, August 30. Kickoff is at 4:00 p.m.
