Milburn hired as Owls assistant coach

GAMBIER, Ohio — Kenyon College’s softball program filled out its coaching staff after announcing that Karlie Milburn will join Head Coach Emily (McDonough) Miller at the helm for the Owls.

Milburn and Miller, who returns to the Owls after serving as Assistant Coach at Kenyon during the 2020 season, will lead a team that went 24-16 and 6-10 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Before joining the Owls, Milburn was a graduate assistant coach for the University of Michigan softball team from August 2020 to May 2022. The Wolverines went 76-26 (50-14 Big Ten) and won the 2021 Big Ten Championship while Milburn was with the program. She also worked as a clinician with the athletic counseling team for Michigan Athletics while putting her master’s degree in social work into action.

Milburn also served as an assistant coach with the Florida Gulf Coast League, the first collegiate softball league in Sarasota/ Bradenton, Florida, for two seasons, where she worked primarily as a pitching coach.

Prior to earning a master’s in social work from Michigan in May 2022, Milburn earned a degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sport management from Tarleton State University in August 2020. She also pitched for Tarleton State’s softball team while playing all four years for a team that was an NCAA Regional finalist in 2018 and 2019.
