Men’s Volleyball Opens Season with Sweep of Bethany College

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. —  The Mount Vernon Nazarene men’s volleyball team (1-0) opened their season with a dominant performance against Bethany College (1-2) on Thursday, January 30, at Ariel Arena.

The Cougars secured a commanding 3-0 sweep, taking each set 25-16, 25-19, and 25-16. While the early stages of each set remained competitive, MVNU pulled away late to seal the victory in each set over the Bison to get a 3-0 sweep.

Daniel Daly led the offense with nine kills on a .333 hitting percentage, adding a service ace while contributing a dig. Jackson Bush followed closely with six kills, a .417 hitting percentage, and two aces. Noah Wineberg was highly efficient, recording five kills on 10 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage while tallying two aces, a solo block, and two block assists. Christian Kyer was also a force at the net, posting five kills on an impressive .625 hitting percentage with two aces and three block assists. Austin Kolaczkowski played a key role in setting up the offense with 27 assists while also contributing three service aces and two block assists.

Men’s volleyball will hit the road on Friday, January 31, traveling to Campbellsville, Kentucky, for a 7:00 PM EST match against the No. 14 Campbellsville (Ky.) University Tigers to kick off their weekend tri-match.
