MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s soccer team (6-6-3, 1-5-1 CL) hosted Taylor University (7-6-2, 1-4-2 CL) and picked up its first Crossroads League win of the season on Saturday, October 18 at CH4 Stadium.
It was senior night for the MVNU men’s soccer program as Diogo Assis, Christian Dean, Alex DeJesus, Tiago DeJesus, Micah Post, Seth Richardson, Reid Vance, and Mattia Zuin were each honored prior to the match for their contributions to the team in their MVNU careers.
MVNU took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute after Miguel Bello’s eighth goal of the season. Diogo Bento and Elkana Maier assisted Bello on the scoring play. MVNU kept the Taylor offensive attack in check throughout the match and padded its lead with a Kevin Ngula goal that was assisted by Tiago DeJesus in the 53rd minute. The 2-0 score held the rest of the match as MVNU secured the victory on senior night.
Brayden Pierson was great in goal, stopping all eight of the shots sent his way.

MVNU travels to Winona Lake, Indiana for a contest at Grace College on Saturday, October 25 at 5:00 p.m.
