Lords prepare for rematch with Bishops

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Kenyon College men’s lacrosse team will face off against the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops for the second time in four days on Wednesday afternoon, this time in the 2022 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament. The Lords took the regular-season matchup, 11-10, in Delaware, Ohio. 

Kenyon, the No. 2 seed in this year’s conference tournament, finished the regular season with a 13-3 overall record and 8-1 in the NCAC. The 13 wins tied the program record for wins in a season and notched their highest seed in the postseason bracket. Before Ohio Wesleyan, the Lords took down Oberlin College, 12-5, at home. 

Ohio Wesleyan enters the contest as the third seed, finishing the regular season with a 10-5 record, 7-2 in the NCAC. Before their loss to the Lords, the Battling Bishops defeated Wabash College, 28-3, in Crawfordsville, Ind.

These two teams last met in the postseason in 2019 where the Bishops took the semifinal game, 25-10. Ohio Wesleyan leads the all-time series with a 38-4 record against Kenyon since 1985.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 1-seed Denison University hosts the fourth-seeded Oberlin College Yeomen. The Lords and Bishops start play at 4 p.m. on Wednesday on the Field at Benson Bowl. 

As mandated by the league office, tickets for Tuesday’s match are $7 for adults and $3 for children (18 and under). NCAC students with a valid institution ID will be admitted free of charge.
