Lieb, Murphy earn CSC academic awards

GAMBIER, Ohio —  Tuesday afternoon, NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Academic All-District selections were announced by College Sports Communicators (CSC). Making the cut for the Kenyon College Owls were senior Megan Lieb and junior Grace Murphy.

To be eligible for the academic honor, a student-athlete had to be a key contributor who participated in at least 90 percent of the team’s competitions or started 66 percent of those competitions. The student-athlete had to be on the team’s active roster for at least two years and, most importantly, had to possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better.

Both Lieb and Murphy are now two-time recipients of the award. Lieb was named to the 2023 Academic All-District Team and Murphy was named to the 2024 team, giving her two consecutive awards.

On the court Lieb, a 5-11 forward, played in 24 games this past season and got the start in 18. She averaged 1.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. She also recorded seven assists, six steals, and five blocks. In the classroom, Lieb excels in her major of biology.

Murphy, a 5-9 guard, played in 23 games and earned 15 starts. She averaged 3.5 points per game, as well as 1.8 rebounds per game. Additionally, she recorded 16 assists, 13 steals, and 11 blocked shots. Away from the court, she concentrates on her major of economics.

Over the last three years, the Owls have had six different student-athletes combine for eight CSC Academic All-District awards.
