Centerburg Senior Daniel LeMaster had a monster performance in Centerburg’s season opening loss to Madison Plains 5-4 on Saturday. The Eagles won in walk off fashion collecting 5 runs on 4 hits. LeMaster struck out 17 and walked 5 batters in 6 innings he gave up 4 runs with 2 of them earned. Vinny Morgan went the final 2 and a third and allowed one run. LeMaster collected 3 hits on offense. Clarke Redd had 4 hits for the Trojans in the loss.
Meanwhile the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets beat Westerville South Friday 4-0. Senior Ezra Kurek collected 3 hits and Kayden Packard had 2 of the 6 Mount Vernon hits in the victory. Packard threw 6 shutout innings striking out 7 while allowing just 5 hits. Zac Clow had the other hit for Jackets. Jackets scored one in the first and three in the fifth in the win.
