Lady Freddies move on to District Semifinals with victory

The Fredericktown Lady Freddies took down Madison Plains 49-29 Friday Night to advance to a District Semifinal Wednesday Night at home. The Lady Freddies (18-4) got back to back put backs by Kennedy Algire and a make from Cally Carpenter to take a 6-0 lead on the Golden Eagles 2 minutes into the game Friday Night. Mackenzie Reeves got Madison Plains on the board at the 535 mark with a make and after Kenzie Vallery hit 3 of 4 free throws to make it 6-5 Freddies. After Gracyn Toombs got a shot to got Carpenter hit a pair of free throws and Ella Bouton scored to make it 12-5 Freddies. Anna Stroup scored with 10 seconds to go in the period and it was 12-7 Fredericktown after one.

Carpenter extended the lead to start the second quarter with a three and a two to go up ten with just over 6 minutes left in the period. Claire Mason hit one of two free throws before Carpenter and Mya Bryant got back to back shot to go up 21-8 with 240 left in the quarter. Stroup got a two and Carpenter scored off the glass right before the horn for the Freddies to lead 23-10 after one half of play.

Claire Mason cut into the lead to start the second half but Algire followed with a good shot and got fouled but missed the free throw. Vallery hit a pair from the charity stripe to make it 25-14 Freddies with 559 to go in the third. Carpenter hit a three and Vallery got a two. Kit Bellman got her first points on a three to extend the Freddies lead to 31-16 with 442 to go in the period. Stroup scored to make it a 13 point game with 421 left. Toombs made a pair of free throws to get the Freddies up 15 and Bellman nailed another 3 to extend the lead. Bryant scored right before the buzzer to send the Freddies to the 4th up 38-18.

Carpenter got a two to go and Algire got an and one to lead by 25 with 649 left. Reeves missed a pair of free throws before Bella Ritchie got a score for the Freddies to go up 27 with 426 left. Reeves and Stroup hit back to back three to cut into the lead 45-24 with 332 left in the game. Zoey Horlacher got on the board with a make with 113 left. Ava Williams and Reeves scored 5 straight to make it 48-29 with 53 seconds left. Elizabeth Horlacher scored on a free throw to make it 49-29 the final.

Carpenter unofficially had 18 points and Algire added 8. Bellman had 6 for the Lady Freddies who host Northridge in a District Semi Wednesday at home vs Northridge 645pm on WMVO Facebook and Radio.
