Lady Cougars Have Five Earn All-League Honors

JACKSON, Mich. – TheMount Vernon Nazarene’s University women’s soccer team had five players receive All-League honors from the Crossroads League on Monday, November 14.

Ashley Townsend earned Honorable Mention recognition as a midfielder. The senior was able to get off 49 shots with 26 of them being on goal to come away with a shot-on-goal percentage of 53.1%. Townsend had four goals and four assists to finish with 12 points on the season.

Midfielder, Savannah Zambory earned Honorable Mention honors as well. Zambory was an offensive force, finishing the season with nine goals. The sophomore from Parma, Ohio took 27 shots, with 15 of them being on goal. Zambory had an impressive shots-had percentage as well, scoring on 33.3% of her shots taken.

Sarah Townsend received Honorable Mentions honors as a defender. Townsend was able to lead a successful defensive line, while being a threat offensively. The senior from New Concord, Ohio finished the season with one goal and two assists, while maintaining a shot-on-goal percentage of 70%.

Defender, Ryleigh Robinson is next up, earning Honorable Mention honors. Robinson was able to make an immediate positive impact for the team, stepping up in the center back position. The freshman from Chardon, Ohio helped shut down many opposing offensive players while starting every game she played in.

The final Lady Cougar to receive Honorable Mention honors was goalkeeper, Hannah Miller. Miller was a wall for the team’s back line, coming away with 99 saves and save percentage of 78%. The freshman from Ashland, Ohio was able to end the season with three shutouts.
