Lady Cougars Fall at Saint Francis

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s basketball team (11-11, 6-6 CL) came up short on the road at the University of Saint Francis (10-12, 6-6 CL) by a final score of 77-84 on Thursday, January 26.

USF led the game from start to finish. MVNU got outscored 25-15 in the first quarter and trailed at the half 46-35. Despite outscoring Saint Francis 42-38 in the second half and getting itself back into the game, the lack of consistent stops on defense throughout the game cost MVNU in the end. USF shot a blistering 59.6% from the field and 47.6% (10-21) from three.

Sage Brannon led MVNU with 21 points on 7-16 shooting and 3-7 shooting from three.

Madelyn Lawson had 14 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists. Lawson was 5-7 from the field and 4-6 from three.

Emily Walker moved into the starting lineup due to Maggie Coe’s injury and put together a strong performance. Walker had 13 points on 5-7 shooting from the field and 3-4 shooting from deep. Walker had six assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Rylee Pireu and Angela Roshak each had 12 points for MVNU.

What’s Next

MVNU is back in action on Saturday, January 28 against Spring Arbor University in Ariel Arena. Tip-off is set for 1:00pm.
