Coach Gallion’s Thoughts

“Excited to open up the new year and see where our team was after a long winter break. My goal today was getting a baseline for the year, see what needs to be worked on, and push forward into the season ahead. A big part of that baseline was seeing where our distance team was after cross country season, and it was a true joy to have them competing alongside our sprints, throws, and jumps crew. Especially nice to have back on the track was Ellyn Coe. It was her first race back from an injury and she showed her potential, as she ran to a strong second place finish in the 800 to the tune of 2:28. We have a lot of youth within our distance crew, and it will be exciting to see their growth this season! On the throws side we demonstrated depth with three ladies finishing inside the top eight in shot put and two inside the top eight in weight throw. Makayla Roberts had a special day with first place showing in shot and second place weight throw! And from the sprints/jumps area Brooke Holloway continues to be a force in pole vault, with a 1st place showing. While our sprints group showed a lot of positive pieces that we can look to build on! Proud of this crew and the growth they continue to show. Next week will be a fun challenge at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne.”
