IWLCA names O’Neil to its All-America Team

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Fifty-seven student-athletes were selected to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) 2022 NCAA Division III All-America Team. The announcement, delivered Thursday, included the name of Kenyon College junior Caroline O’Neil, who earned third-team honors.

O’Neil is the eighth player in Kenyon women’s lacrosse history to be named an All-American and she’s the first since Caitlin Wells was recognized as such in 2005.

An attack playing in her first non-shortened collegiate season, O’Neil helped guide the Ladies through a 16-2 campaign that included North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) regular-season and tournament titles, as well as an appearance, and a win, in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The 16 wins, a program record, were built mainly on a 14-game win streak, another program record.

For her part, O’Neil started all 18 games for the Ladies. She led the team in points (74), goals (56) and assists (18). Her point total and her goal total both rank as top-10 marks in the Kenyon record book. Among players in the conference, O’Neil ranked tied for second in points, fourth in goals and tied for fifth in assists.

O’Neil didn’t just contribute scoring statistics. Her final 2022 stat line also included 25 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

In the weeks leading up to being named an All-American, O’Neil was tabbed a first-team All-NCAC selection, the NCAC Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team pick on the IWLCA All-Great Lakes Region Team.
