Hulsey hauls in NCAC Athlete of the Week honor

CLEVELAND, Ohio — After pacing the Kenyon College men’s golf team at the Owls’ final fall outing, Will Hulsey hauled in Athlete of the Week honors from the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). Hulsey helped Kenyon ascend the team standings on each of the team’s three days at the Golfweek October Classic, and his efforts earned him his first NCAC Athlete of the Week award.

Hulsey shot even par over three days and three rounds at the 6,623-yard, par-71 Ravenwood Golf Club in Miramar Beach, Florida. The junior tallied a three-round total of 213, which tied for 28th in the 120-golfer field. Hulsey honed in on the course each subsequent round, shaving strokes for himself and the squad as the fall finale progressed.

After a four-over 75 in round one, Hulsey finished under par for the next two days, carding rounds of 70 and 68. His three-under third round featured four birdies and the team’s only eagle, one of just seven golfers to score two-under in any given hole over the outing. Hulsey’s scoring helped No. 11-ranked Kenyon finish 13th in the competitive 24-team field as the Owls finished with a team total of 864 (+12).

With the fall season officially in the books, Hulsey and the Owls will turn their sights to the spring when the team will be looking to defend its NCAC Championship and make another run in the NCAA Championship.
