Highland and Fredericktown open up Football Friday Night

The Highland Scots are back at it Friday Night with Ty Stover again leading the charge as they take on the Fredericktown Freddies on the road to open the season. The Scots finished 7-4 last year losing their final two games a week 10 loss at home to Clear Fork for the MOAC Title and to Tinora in playoff action, being outscored 79-14 in the losses combined. The Scots bring back all time leading rusher Dane Nauman who last year rushed for 2, 380 yards and 28 touchdowns among other key pieces. Stover says they need to run the football well and play good defense to win.

For Fredericktown, a team that is replacing 14 Seniors from last years team things will look different. Blake Sipes is a Sophomore and will start at quarterback. Trevor Bellman will start at running back and mainly Juniors will occupy the line. The Freddies are replacing Teegan Ruhl who rushed for 24 touchdowns and over 1800 yards on the ground, Kaid Carpenter added another 7 touchdowns. The Freddies last year threw for 845 yards in 11 games but rushed for nearly 2,800 on the season.
