The Centerburg Trojans girls basketball team throttled Northmor in their conference open 55-15 to improve to 3-0 on the season. The defending KMAC Champions will play at Danville Friday. In the win against the Golden Knights Senior Kayla Larimore surpassed 1,000 career points.
Newark Catholic beat Utica in overtime 50-47. Senior guard Sophie Peloquin had 21 points and 7 rebounds in the win for the Green Wave. The Redskins scored at the buzzer in regulation to send it to overtime. The Redskins have now won on a buzzer beater, lost on a buzzer beater and lost in overtime in their first 3 games this season.
Avery Williams scored 15 points in Licking Valley’s 39-38 win over Licking Heights. Karsyn Johnson scored 15 points for the Hornets.
Caylin Cox had 34 points for Johnstown in a 55-41 win over Lakewood.
Newark beat Lancaster 67-32 behind 19 points from Addi Hall.
BOYS BASKETBALL FROM TUESDAY
In Boys High School Basketball Mount Vernon got 16 first half points for Trace Beck to take a big lead on Highland and pick up a 77-50 road win over the Scots. The Jackets only led 22-17 at the end of 1 but outscored the Scots 25-6 in the second quarter for the big halftime lead. Jackets host Madison Saturday.
Both Fredericktown and Crestview shot over 47 percent Tuesday night but the Freddies were outscored 22-6 in the fourth quarter in a 76-60 loss. Sophomore Carson Rinehart had 21 points to the lead the Freddies in the loss. Gavin Toombs added 16 points and 7 rebounds for the Freddies. Justice Thompson scored 24 points and added 14 rebounds for Crestview. Tyson Ringler scored 20 points for Ashland Crestview.
