Granville pounces on Trojans in dominate road win

The Granville Blue Aces improved to 3-0 in dominate fashion with a 67-18 win over Centerburg in non conference action Tuesday Night. At first it looked like the 1-1 Centerburg Trojans were going to make it a game but the Blue Aces halted any chance of that with an incredible second quarter.

The Trojans jumped out quick to a 4-0 lead just 2 minutes into the game with a putback by Isaiah Sule and a score by Trevin Harris but Granville went on a 7-0 run with Carson Murphy scoring 3 two point buckets and Jase Becker adding a free throw. The Trojans got a Sule score to draw within one but Becker answered to give the Blue Aces a 9-6 lead with 230 to go in the quarter. After Harris hit a free throw, Colt Shaw finished an and one to give Granville a 12-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter put the game out of reach. Alex Engle got a putback a minute into the period to send Granville to a 14-7 lead. Murphy hit a 3, Engle added a 2 and Murphy scored again to make it 21-7 Blue Aces with 5:11 to got in the quarter. Harris got a two for Centerburg but Becker added a transition and one and a three to increase the lead to 27-9 with 2:44 left in the half. Jakob Culver got in on the scoring for the Blue Aces with a three with just under a minute to go in the half and added a 3 at the buzzer to send Granville to a 33-10 halftime lead.

In the third quarter there were 27 points total scored and 25 of those points belonged to the Blue Aces. The only score for Centerburg was Jack Lawrence score at the 5:05 mark. Culver got a put back and two in the quarter Becker added 8 points in the period, Murphy added 7 and Engle scored 2 in the quarter to send the game to blow out status. Granville led 58-12 at the end of three.

In the fourth with a running clock Dylan Lane scored back to back buckets to up Granville’s lead to 50 with 7:18 left. Bennett Hill scored for Centerburg. Jackson Ballinger and Sule added the other 4 points for Centerburg in the quarter in the 67-18 loss to Granville.

Carson Murphy’s 18 points powered the Blue Aces while Jase Becker scored 17 and Jakob Culver 10.
