Gow earns All-Region honor from D3baseball.com

GAMBIER, Ohio — D3baseball.com released Tuesday its annual list of All-Region honorees. Included among selections was Kenyon College senior, Alex Gow, who was named to the first team as a utility player.

There were 46 players selected to the All-Region team. The second and third team both consisted of 16 players, while the first team had 14 players. This is the 10th year D3baseball.com has named an All-Region team and, as usual, this year’s honorees are now eligible for All-American consideration.

Gow was selected as a utility player due to his success on the mound, in the batter’s box and at first base.

On the mound, Gow started 10 games for Kenyon. He went 7-1 in those games and posted an impressive 1.75 earned run average, the fifth best single-season output in Kenyon history. He racked up 99 strikeouts and his average of 13.37 strikeouts per inning was a new Kenyon record. His earned run average, strikeout total and strikeout average ranked top-20 among all NCAA Division III players.

Gow, Kenyon’s first baseman when he wasn’t pitching, also made significant contributions with the bat in his hands. In 133 at-bats, he produced a .293 batting average with eight doubles and five home runs. He scored 28 runs and drove in 27. He also drew seven walks and was hit by a pitch seven times to give him a .396 on-base percentage.

After the 2022 season ended, and before Gow earned this All-Region honor, he was named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) first team and was voted the NCAC Pitcher of the Year.

Gow is the first Kenyon player to earn an All-Region first-team spot since Jake Dunn did so in the 2015 season.
