The Fredericktown Freddies boys basketball team picked up their 9th straight win when they beat Centerburg on the road Friday 65-57. The Freddies (9-2, 7-0) got up 11-0 to start the game on a score by Carson Rinehart and three straight threes one each by Brode Davis, Rinehart and Gavin Toombs. Jack Lawrence got the Trojans on the board at the 418 mark but a Blake Sipes free throw and Tanner Estep 3 increased the Freddies lead to 15-2. Bennett Hill scored for Centerburg before Estep hit another triple and Rinehart got back to back scores to lead 22-4 with 124 left in the opening period. Lawrence and Sipes traded buckets and the Freddies led 24-6 after one.
Jack Lawrence opened the second quarter with a bucket but Rinehart nailed two free throws after Centerburg was hit with a technical foul and it was 26-8 Freddies. Trevin Harris got on the board for the Trojans but after Lawrence missed a pair of free throws Zane Luckmeier 28-10 the Freddies led. Hill got a two but Luckmeier and Bradyn Clevinger got back to back scores to increase the lead to 20. Hill and Estep traded points and then Jack Lawrence scored 6 straight for the Trojans to trail 34-20 at the 115 mark. Both the Freddies and Trojans hit two free throws to end the period 36-22 Fredericktown.
In the third Rinehart hit a three and the Freddies led 39-22. The Trojans went on another 6-0 run on back to back buckets by Harris and a score by Lawrence. Luckmeier got an and one and Rinehart and Toombs hit back to back shots to increase the Fredericktown lead to 46-28. Luckmeier later got a score to increase the Fredericktown lead to 19. After Bennett Hill got a score, Toombs answered and Rinehart followed. The Freddies led 54-33 after 3.
The Trojans (6-5, 4-2) scored 6 straight to open the fourth on a pair of free throws by Blane Ball and scores from Isaiah Sule and Harris to make it 54-39 Freddies with 612 left. Toombs got a pair of free throws before Lawrence got an and one and Luckmeier to keep the Freddies lead at 16. Ball scored for the Trojans and Lawrence got back to back score before Toombs and Sipes got baskets for the Freddies. Harris got an and one to get the Trojans within 11 with 1:10 left. Toombs then scored and Lawrence got a pair of free throws. Davis hit 1/2 free throws for the Freddies and Harris capped the scoring at 65-57
One big stat was the Freddies were 6/18 from 3 and Centerburg was 0/12. The Freddies were 15/19 from the line and Centerburg was 9/17. The Freddies also had 15 more rebounds than the Trojans.
Rinehart had 21 points for the Freddies on 7/15 shooting. He added 3 assists. Toombs had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Luckmeier had 12 points and 8 rebounds.
Lawrence had a game high 29 points for Centerburg to go with 8 rebounds. Harris added 14 points for the Trojans.
