Freddies at Indians in battle of unbeatens highlights Week 5 match ups

Fredericktown at 4-0 and 1-0 KMAC plays at Mount Gilead 4-0 and 1-0 in KMAC

The Fredericktown Freddies are coming off a conference road win over Cardington Lincoln 21-0. The Freddies got a pair of touchdown runs from Brode Davis who is leading the KMAC in yards per carry at 11.6 and Cirk Parker ran one in for the Freddies. Davis had a 4 yard touchdown and a 33 yard touchdown run on fourth and 15. Davis has run for 286 yards and 4 scores while also catching 4 touchdown passes this season too. Defensively he and Gavin Toombs have been a force as Toombs leads the conference in sacks at 6 and Davis is tied for the KMAC lead in interceptions with 2. Cash and Cirk Parker combine for 7 sacks together. Meanwhile Mount Gilead won a back and forth game with Danville 26-22. They are 4-0 for the first time since 2011,however in that season they lost their final 6 games, the Indians will try to use a stout defense to avoid that happening again. Tyler Harr scored twice on the ground and Jacob Wilt had a touchdown run in the win. Wyatt Long had a 59 yard interception return for a touchdown. The Kmac leading rusher Carson Barnum rushed for 166 yards in the win. The Indians dominate up front as they have the top 4 players in the KMAC in tackles for loss. The Freddies and Indians are 1 and 2 in the KMAC in scoring defense. The Indians allow less than 2 yards a carry and the Freddies allow 3 yards per carry again the top 2 in the KMAC.

Centerburg at 3-1 and 1-0 KMAC host Loudonville at 2-2 and 0-1 KMAC

Centerburg got a monster game up front by their offensive line and used a great rushing attack in a road victory versus Northmor 44-27. Miles Marshall had 4 touchdown runs from 64 yards, 33 yards, 10 yards and 4 yards in the win. Blane Ball added a 52 yard touchdown as Centerburg finished with 383 yards on the ground. Their defense held the Golden Knights to just 47 yards rushing on 25 carries.

These two teams are the tops offensively in the KMAC. Centerburg averages 36 points per game to Loudonville’s 33. The Trojans average nearly 8 yards a carry while Loudonville averages 6.4YPC. Loudonville is coming off a 27-12 loss to East Knox. The Redbirds turned it over 5 times in the loss.

Loudonville is led by a pair of rushers who have totaled 487 yards on the ground in Josiah Hershberger and Braylon Kauffman. They have rushed for a combined 8 touchdowns which equals the total for Centerburg’s Miles Marshall.

East Knox at 1-3 and 1-0 KMAC host Cardington Lincoln at 2-2 and 0-1 KMAC

East Knox got four touchdown passes from Jax Lester in a win over Loudonville at home last week. Lester leads the KMAC in touchdown passes with 11 and passing yards with 862. While Logan Clark is tied for the league lead with 4 touchdown catches this season. Lester threw touchdown passes to Rush Beatty, Logan Clark twice and Dakota Cooper once in the win.

The Pirates are coming off a loss to Fredericktown but still boasts one of the top offensive lines and rushers in the KMAC. Wyatt Denney has rushed for 712 yards, good for second in the KMAC  while also scoring 6 rushing scores also good for second in the conference. Their quarterback Josh Goers is also one of the top rushers in the conference with nearly 400 yards and 5 touchdowns to his name.

Danville at 2-2 and 0-1 KMAC host Northmor at 2-2 and 0-1 KMAC

Danville is coming off a tough road loss at Mount Gilead 26-22. Mount Gilead got up 12-0 and looked to be increasing their lead when Danville picked off a pass in the end zone. Danville would score next on a 75 yard drive capped off with a Nolan Ridgeway ten yard touchdown run with 107 until half. Danville took a 16-12 lead in the third but Mount Gilead answered back to take a two point lead with 3 minutes left before a pick six by the Indians made it a ten point game the Blue Devils responded but it wasn’t enough in the loss.

They’ll play a Northmor team that lost to Centerburg and didn’t get much offense. Tanner Miley threw a pair of touchdowns with 159 yards through the air in the  loss. The Golden Knights had just 47 yards on 25 carries on the night.

Mount Vernon at 2-2 and 1-0 LCL plays at Heath 1-3 and 0-1 LCL

The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets got a thrilling victory over Johnstown in overtime 35-34 last Friday Night as quarterback Mason Richards ran for a school record 302 yards and 4 touchdowns including an 84 yard touchdown score. Landon Dawson also had a rushing score in the win. Mount Vernon ran for 385 yards as a team. Luke Mullins had 11 tackles on defense in the win. Heath lost to Licking Valley 41-14. The Bulldogs led 7-0 before Licking Valley scored 41 straight points. Tristyn Jones had a 4 yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs in the loss. Jones added a 21 yard touchdown. Licking Valley ran for 262 yards in the win.
