Delsante voted NCAC Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND — Racking up four more hits in the Owls’ most recent doubleheader, Kenyon College senior Natalya Delsante was voted, on Tuesday, the North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for softball.

On Wednesday, April 2, Delsante’s bat helped the Owls construct a pair of wins over the host Miami University-Hamilton Harriers. In game one, Delsante went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. One of her hits was a double and she also was hit by a pitch, putting her on-base in all four of her plate appearances.

In game two, she ripped another double, scored once, and knocked in another run. For the day, Delsante was a combined 4-for-6, improving her batting average to .465, which is the second-best mark on the team. With two walks and four hit-by-pitches added in, she has a season-long .508 on-base percentage, which is tops among all Kenyon starters.

Delsante has also been getting it done in the field. Against Miami University-Hamilton, the Owls’ sure-handed second baseman had eight chances and converted all eight, recording four assists and four putouts. Her fielding percentage of .981 ranks second best on the team.

The Owls currently own a 14-4 record and now face back-to-back doubleheaders against conference opponents. On Friday, they’ll travel to Wittenberg University for two games before returning home Saturday to host Denison University for another two.
