Maddy Payne drove in 4 runs in Danville’s dominate 22-0 win over the Mount Gilead Indians Tuesday Night. In the first Payne hit a Grand Slam to left field. Danville first got on the board in an 8 run first inning with Abi Sapp doubled in a run, a run scored on an error, Payne hit the Grand Slam and Sapp came up and singled in a pair to go up 8-0.
Danville added a run in the second on a wild pitch. Danville scored 6 runs on five hits in the third as Sapp doubled home a run, Alicia Humphrey had a two run double, Ruby Bartok had an RBI single and Addy Bocock had a two run double.
Danville scored 7 runs on 7 hits in the fifth. Dakota Cross had an RBI single, Kenzie Staats had a two run single, Riley Johnston had a two run double and Aubrey Clifton and Avri Bocock hit drove in a run. Danville finished with 17 hits in the game.
Humphrey picked up the win allowing one hit in three innings and striking out out four. Bartok pitched the final two innings without allowing a hit.
Meanwhile on the hardwood former Danville Girls Basketball Coach Matt Proper will now take the reigns of the Boys Basketball Program at Danville. He takes over for Steve Lyons who’s team finished 6-17 last year. Proper last coached the Girls Basketball team at Danville in the 2023-24 season where the team finished 17-8.
