Dakos delivers Owls’ second straight NCAC award

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Kenyon College women’s tennis team produced a North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row, and this time it was Eleni Dakos who delivered the award.

Dakos chalked up two straight-set wins in Kenyon’s 9-0 sweep against Kalamazoo College, a dual in which the Owls did not drop a single set. The victory improved Kenyon’s record to 2-0 on the young season, and the Owls have won 17 of 18 matches across doubles and singles play.

Against the Hornets, the duo of Dakos and Eleni Lazaridou, last week’s NCAC Athlete of the Week, won a hard-fought 8-5 decision in the No. 1 doubles match to open the Owls’ dominant performance. Later, the junior clinched the dual with Kenyon’s fifth win of the contest when she claimed a 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles match.

Kenyon, who is ranked 27th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s NCAA Division III Top 40 Coaches Poll, has a week off before a tough test on February 26 against the No. 12-ranked Case Western Reserve University (1-0) on the road.
